Things that we packed. We packed from this list, but each camping trip is different, so we do not take all of this every time we camp. Your needs are likely to be different from ours, but you can use this as a starting point. First aid kit in truck: personal medication & prescription medication, bandages incl butterfly bandages, aspirin, Advil & Tylenol PM, medical tape, sterile gauze, elastic wrap, antiseptic wipes, antibiotic cream, burn ointment, hydrogen peroxide, scissors, tweezers, eye wash, snake bite kit, insect bite relieve, bag balm, Vasoline. General Items: Water containers (small for hiking and large for general use and refilling the small containers) & water filters Hiking guides for the area (books, information, maps), Hat & Sun screen & Sunglasses with strap, wood for a fire (I use an empty paper feed bag filled with small wood - just light up the bag), Tent or rain tarp (Canopy for rain and sun protection) with rope, rain poncho & umbrella, sleeping bags & sleeping pad, down booties/night shoes, pillows & throw, Solar shower, 2 Sets of towel(s) & multiple wash clothes Toilet kit Toilet paper Lanterns: Light (headlamp for reading & brighter for random night use) Flashlights, Spare batteries (check your equipment for the different sizes you need), Chairs (lightweight and folding), Tools: Hammer, couple of screwdrivers, pliers, hand saw (the types for tree limbs has a lot of uses), Shovel, manure fork, and fine broom & dustpan Indoor/outdoor thermometer Reading material (pocket guides to wildflowers, trees, and/or birds) Game(s): cards, chess, crossword puzzles, Computer & Computer spare battery (and any backup devises needed and cable for photo downloads ), Inverter (Be sure you get the correct one to power the devise you intend to use), Camera (and charger for camera batteries) & tripod & all weather Camera bag, extension Cord, hose, wheel chocks and levelers, rags, laundry bag & liquid detergent, clothesline and pins, sewing kit, gooseneck lock, Woodall's Campground Book Food: ice, cooking oil (spray), olive oil, salt & pepper, garlic powder, seasoned salt, herbs and spices needed for cooking, tea, coffee & hot chocolate, milk, cheeses, eggs (maybe some hard boiled), butter, mayonnaise, mustard, bananas, fruits, fruit juice, carrots, celery, cauliflower, broccoli, lettuce, tomatoes, bagels, muffins, cookies, yogurt, cottage cheese, cream cheese, onions, potatoes, garlic, sugar & honey, flour, pancake mix and syrup, lemonade, soda, tuna, canned chicken, sandwich meats and cheeses, bread, hot dogs & rolls, hamburgers & rolls, sausage, bacon, chicken, steak, vitamins & supplements. Kitchen Items: can opener & cork screw, knives, cutting board, grill (a portable gas grill will do when fires are prohibited or not practical), grill brush & grill utensils, propane cylinders (if needed), matches and propane lighter, large cook pot that can be used on both stove and fire, coffee pot, frying pan with lid, shish kabob sticks and marshmallow sticks, tongs and spatula, dish pan, detergent, pot scrubber, dish rack, dish cloths & towels, pot holders, oven mitts, paper towels & napkins, HD plastic trash bags, aluminum foil & zip lock bags, measuring cups, HD plastic: dinnerware plates/bowls & utensils, plastic cups for cold and hot, fly swatter Clothes & Personal Hygiene: t-shirts, shorts, jeans/pants, socks (warm and lightweight), shoes/boots, wind breaker (remember, even in the summer the mountains may be cool at night), warm hat, hiking shoes or boots, sneakers, hat/cap, sweater, rain poncho, underwear, sleep wear, swim suit & flip flops, riding clothes for all weather, tooth brush & tooth paste, wash cloth(s)& towel(s), soap & shampoo & conditioner, comb/brush, nail clippers, razor, toilet paper, & sanitary needs Miscellaneous Items: binoculars, bug spray, bungi cords, candles, cell phone, compass, duct tape, fishing gear, Frisbee, GPS, kite, pen and paper, rope, solar shower, water filters, whistle, office supplies (tape, paper clips, stapler, scissors, stamps, envelopes, etc), light weight indoor/outdoor carpet, fire extinguisher. Horse Items: Large (20 gal) bucket with handles, Large lidded HD plastic garbage can with HD plastic bag liners (can be used to haul water or food), manure fork and round shovel, lounge line, high line, portable solar charger and portable electric fence (recommend short lengths of rebar for posts rather than plastic for areas where there is a lot of rock), two buckets per horse (preferably one five gallon and one smaller), hay nets, saddle bags or pommel bags. Two lead lines per horse (preferable one small diameter for use with rope halter to carry on rides), two halters per horse (preferably one rope), all weather blanket (one per horse), fly sheet (one per horse), fly mask (one per horse), saddle and saddle pad(s), one spare pad and one spare cinch (girth), Grooming kit & small hose for washing, old towels for wipe down, hoof care kit including pliers for pulling off bad shoes and/or rasp for filing hoofs & hoof knife, horse boots & shipping boots, wormer (if gone for over a month), first aid kit for horse (Penicillin, iodine, polo wraps, vet wrap, 3 way antibiotic, Banomine), health certification, Coggins papers and ownership papers (also carry the name and number of your vet, farrier, trainer, etc.), shavings for the trailer (helps absorb and contain manure and urine so it does not go all over the trailer as well as help footing), a hand truck for hauling a large water container a distance. Horse Feed: (I fed the following for 8 months and had not one problem) Dry Cob (this is generally a third each of corn, oats and barley - I fed them whole), Beet pulp - re-hydrated before adding to feed, Rice Bran - if you need to boost calories, Hay - (I fed alfalfa as I could feed less for the same energy and take up less room in the trailer and my horses were working hard (being ridden several days a week), Water - some suggest adding apple juice if traveling to camouflage the different tastes, I did not find this necessary, supplements if you already feed them, grain scoop. |
